Faculty of Physics

Welcome to the website of the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw

The Faculty of Physics is a large research and teaching center. It consists of The Institutes of Theoretical Physics, Experimental Physics, Geophysics, The Astronomical Observatory and The Department of Mathematical Methods in Physics.

The Faculty is regarded as one of the top physics departments in the country, recognized internationally for the quality of its faculty and students.

"The crystal that will change everything" – the largest bulk gallium nitride crystal in the world, produced by a Polish company AMMONO made it to the cover of the July edition of the IEEE Spectrum magazine, the flagship publication of the IEEE, the world's largest professional electronics technology association.

QESSENCE: A Quintessential Quantum Leap

University of Warsaw is participating in yet another international consortium of a European grant, within the 7th Framework Programme, to reap practical benefits from the mysterious realm of quantum mechanics.
