To look up a manual page in a particular section of the manual, add a parenthesized section number suffix. E.g., kill(2) searches for the manual page of the kill system call in section 2 (system calls) of the Unix Programmers Manual. Similarly, kill(3f) will search section 3F (Fortran library routines) for the kill Fortran library function.
To search by keywords rather than titles, prepend your keyword with a leading ``?''. E.g., ?time searches for manual entries pertaining to time.
You can also do a full text search, but the manual pages that you'll get will be raw troff.
