International Workshop on Photon-Photon and Photon-Proton Processes
Warsaw, Poland, June 12-14, 1998
This informal workshop will be devoted to the hadronic processes involving photons, with a
particular interest in a recent progress in understanding photon-photon and
photon-proton processes.
The workshop will be held at Faculty of Physics, Warsaw, Hoza 69, lecture hall "Nowa Aula".
The first session will start on Friday,
June 12, at 9.00 am; last session
will end at 2.00 pm on Sunday, June 14.
Venue and Travel
The Physics Faculty is located in a walking distance from the Central
Railway Station.
Participants arriving by plane should take bus number 175 or
"Airport-City" bus and disembark at the Central Station too.
Tickets for all buses but the "Airport-City" one can be
purchased at newspaper stands (price 1.40 PLN).
Tickets for the latter are being sold by the driver.
Beware of frequent theft accidents in bus number 175 !!!
Taxis should be treated with maximal care. Most of the drivers there
demand unreasonably high prices for a ride. The best option
is to phone for a taxi from a public telephone in the
departures hall (telephone number 919). A taxi will arrive
in front of that hall only. Telephones operate on cards which
can be purchased in newspaper stands, same as for the bus tickets.
Registration
Registration will start on Friday June 12 at 8:30 at conference
secretariat (room number 220).
Payments
All major credit cards are accepted in shops, hotels and restaurants.
Please, note that Thursday, June 11, is a public holiday in Poland
(Corpus Christi). This will have a negative impact on functioning of
banks. On the other hand airport exchange rates are unfavourable.
Major hotels have their own exchange desks. Exchange rate as for
May 22 is 3.4175 PLN for 1 USD.
University Hostels
Please pay your bill at the hostel reception. At 'Cyklotron' hostel please
pay your bill Saturday morning at the latest.
To get to the 'Cyklotron' hostel use taxi or bus number 175. Disembark from
bus at Banacha street (between Airport and Central Railway Station). Along
Banacha street walk to the Pasteura street. The hostel is located at Pasteura
5A. Please note there is no restaurant service there. Hostel is equiped
however with nice kichen but you have to bring your own food products.
'Hera' hostel, Belwederska street 26/30, can be reached from Central
Railway Station by bus number 131 ( disembark bus at Belwederska street).
To get to the 'Sokrates' hostel at Smyczkowa street 9 from Central Railway
Station one may use bus number 504 or 505 or tramway number 19 or 33.
Disembark at Walbrzyska street and follow the map at the accommodation link.
Both 'Sokrates' and 'Hera' have restaurant service.
Weather
Usually June is sunny and warm in Warsaw; average temperatures range
from 20 - 25 C but showers might be frequent too.
